Online Participation Project: Vision of a holistic tattoo legislation in the EU

Dear members of the ESTP, dear stakeholders of the tattoo community,

In response to the ongoing debate concerning the legislative measures of tattoo and permanent
make up inks under REACH, we sensed a need of writing a tattoo regulation that would include the
comments raised by all parties.

Together with you we want to start an exciting experiment: How would a tattoo legislation look like,
if we write it?

For this purpose, and in awareness of all current short comings, we set up a first basic draft to
stimulate a discussion in an online participation project starting on the 29th of April until 24th of May
on this website: https://adhocracy.plus/european-society-for-tattoo-and-pigment-research/

We aim to gather your ideas, thoughts, or expression of agreement with points addressed in this
draft. The outcome of this participation process will display a common statement which will be used
in future discussions on pigments, safety testing, hygiene in studios and other. In this first phase, we
will likely not end with a perfect solution, but may make the first step toward it.
